New homes on land west of Station Road

Landscaped Open Space

More than 60% of the total land area (over 10 hectares) will be provided as public open space

We are proposing that our scheme will include a designated playground known as a ‘Local Equipped Area for Play’ (LEAP), a sensory memorial garden close for visitors to the cemetery, and plenty of open ‘kickabout’ space. As part of our public consultation, we would be interested in hearing your views on the facilities and types of open space you would like to see.

We will be retaining the two existing Public Rights of Way, and will fully incorporate the paths into our proposals. We will be retaining and enhancing the existing trees and planting along the boundaries, as well as incorporating greenery into the residential areas. We are proposing a 30-50m landscape buffer along the north-western boundary to ensure the new homes do not bleed into the wider landscape. Our proposed new homes will also not be visible from the Grade II* listed ‘ The Cottage’ to the east, due to boundary planting and screening

A broad range of habitats from rough grassland, meadow rich grassland, shrub and bulb planting, and trees are used to define different green space uses. Due to the large amounts of open space on site, we are confident in delivering substantially more biodiversity net gain on-site than the 10% legally required for new housing proposals.
